Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse

Location: Saratoga Springs, New York
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse – Labor and Delivery
  • Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM)
  • Weekly Hours: 36 hours

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in New York
  • Minimum 3 years of Labor and Delivery experience, including experience within the last year
  • Prior travel nursing experience required
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification
  • Nursery experience

Compliance and Certifications

  • Electronic Fetal Monitoring (NCC EFM) certification required
  • Pass Advanced EKG/ECG competency exam with a minimum 90% score within 72 hours of contract signing (specific to certain units including Telemetry)
  • Child Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training (New York State requirement for all RNs)
  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable
  • Color Blindness test preferred
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start (onsite physical with Occupational Health prior to start)
  • Fit test for N95 mask (3M 1870 quantitative test accepted)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year (2-step PPD or Quantiferon Gold acceptable; T-spot not accepted)
  • Immunization or titer proof for:
    • Measles (Rubeola)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Varicella
    • Hepatitis B
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required by December 5th, 2024 (mask required if exempt)
  • Eye exam including Ishihara color deficiency test

Local Residency Restriction

Candidates whose primary residence is in any of the following counties are not eligible for new contracts:

  • Schenectady
  • Albany
  • Columbia
  • Greene
  • Dutchess
  • Ulster

Additional Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
  • Passport-style photo for badge (plain background, head and shoulders visible)
  • FCRA Authorization Release signed prior to start
  • Lift assessment (typically 25 lbs; may be 10 lbs depending on position)
  • Completion of virtual general orientation and clinical testing modules prior to start
  • References: 2 professional references required for travel nursing

Important Notes

  • Occupational Health appointments and related services (physical, fit test, TB testing) are billed to the staffing agency.
  • Candidates must bring specific forms (e.g., TSH Medical History, N95 OSHA Questionnaire) to Occupational Health appointments.
  • Advanced EKG/ECG testing allows up to 3 attempts with remediation support if needed.
  • Flu vaccine exemptions require prior approval; mask wearing is mandatory in patient-facing areas if exempt.
