Cath Lab Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Columbus, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Overview

Seeking an experienced Cath Lab Registered Nurse with a minimum of 3 years of Cath Lab experience. The role involves working normal business hours with a call requirement.


Schedule

  • Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM
  • Call required one night per week and every 4th weekend (call specifics depend on skill set)

Unit & Patient Care Details

  • Cath Lab: Diagnostic and PCI procedures (Level 2 lab)
  • EP Lab: Device changeouts, upgrades, ICD, pacer
  • Vascular Angiogram
  • Interventional Radiology: Simple procedures
  • Patient diagnoses include AMI, STEMI, NSTEMI, EP devices, heart arrhythmias, PAD, PVD

Special Equipment Experience

  • Impella
  • Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP)
  • Temporary pacer
  • Shockwave
  • DFR (Doppler Flow Reserve)
  • IVUS (Intravascular Ultrasound)
  • FFR (Fractional Flow Reserve)

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio
  • Minimum 3 years of Cardiac Cath Lab experience, including experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Experience with Epic electronic health record system

Background & Credentialing Requirements

  • 7-year criminal background check including FBI and BCI fingerprinting (Ohio-specific code 3701.881) required prior to start
  • Education verification from an accredited nursing program (CCNE, ACEN, or NLN CNEA) mandatory
  • State license verification within 30 days of start
  • Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug test within 3 months of start (includes amphetamines, benzodiazepines, cannabinoids, cocaine, opiates, etc.)
  • Physical exam within 1 year confirming good health and free of contagious disease
  • Immunizations and health documents required:
    • Tdap (adult dose)
    • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year
    • MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) vaccination or positive titers
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
    • Hepatitis B titer or vaccine series (declination accepted)
    • Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season (10/1 - 3/31)
  • Fit mask test required annually for inpatient/patient-facing roles (valid N95 types specified)

Competency & Certification Exams

  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required prior to start
  • Unit-specific competency exams required
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required within 1 year of start (with remediation process if failed)

References & Documentation

  • Two professional references required; at least one must be from a manager or formal leadership
  • Employment application required including education details
  • Skills checklist required

Additional Compliance & Training

  • Annual acknowledgment of dress code and hand hygiene policies
  • Fraud, waste, and abuse training certificate required prior to start and updated annually
  • Ethics and compliance policies must be reviewed and signed annually
  • Pending background check attestation required if fingerprint results are pending at start
