Registered Nurse (Med/Surg Telemetry) - Travel/Contract in Canton, Ohio

Position Details

• Specialty: Registered Nurse (Med/Surg Telemetry)
• Location: Canton, Ohio
• Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM)
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Hours per Week: 36 hours

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Ohio.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• Minimum 1.5 years of Med/Surg Telemetry experience, with experience within the last year.
• Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• Current ACLS certification.
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
• Experience with Epic electronic health record system.

Required Certifications & Competencies

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• NIH Stroke Certification (must be current)
• Pass facility baseline competency exams for medication administration and ECG interpretation (SafeMedicate and ECG tests).
• Physical exam within 1 year confirming ability to safely perform job functions.
• Fit mask testing with N95 respirator within 12 months, updated annually.
• Immunizations and health screenings including:

  • Tdap vaccine every 10 years (no declinations accepted).
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray per facility protocol.
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccinations or positive titers.
  • Varicella vaccination or positive titer.
  • Hepatitis B vaccination, titer, or declination.
• Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually (instant drug screens not accepted).
• Annual flu vaccination documentation required (no declinations accepted).

Background & Compliance Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID (e.g., driver’s license or state ID) required and must be carried on assignment.
• Background check including 7-year FCRA-compliant search, education verification, and fingerprinting (FBI and BCI) required prior to start and updated annually.
• Fingerprinting must be completed within 48 hours of signed contract; facility will also conduct fingerprinting onsite.
• Ohio BCI/FBI fingerprint attestation required annually.
• Employment application with at least 3 years prior work history including 2 years clinical acute care experience in a similar specialty.
• Two professional references from within one year of start date required (manager, supervisor, or director level).
• Completion of facility-specific online onboarding and training modules prior to start (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome).
• Photo for badge required (headshot, shoulders up, white background).
• Completion of facility-specific security access control form prior to start.

Additional Notes

• Candidates with gaps longer than 30 days between assignments may need to update physical and eye exams.
• Candidates must comply with all facility-required health screenings and immunizations; medical and religious exemptions require agency approval and facility review.
• Candidates must be prepared to complete all onboarding modules and competency testing as part of orientation.
• No exceptions to listed requirements; all are non-negotiable.

This position is ideal for experienced Med/Surg Telemetry RNs licensed in Ohio or compact states, with strong clinical skills, Epic experience, and readiness to comply with comprehensive onboarding and health requirements.
