Position Details

• Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM)
• Guaranteed Hours: Yes
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Patient Ratio: 1:4-5
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Floating: Yes, floating within scope to meet facility needs

Required Experience and Skills

• Minimum 2 years of Registered Nurse experience
• Telemetry/Step-Down experience required, including EKG and cardiac drips
• Ability to sign for 36 or 48 hours per week

Required Certifications

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only; cert of completion acceptable for up to 1 month until official card is issued
• BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only; cert of completion acceptable for up to 1 month after completion

Licensure

• Active Registered Nurse license for Missouri (pending licenses accepted)
• Primary source verification required (NURSYS for Missouri licenses)

Compliance and Background Requirements

• Government-issued ID required (e.g., driver's license)
• Criminal background check within 6 months, including statewide and nationwide searches
• Quarterly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
• Education verification of highest nursing degree required before start
• Drug testing within 1 year of start, including a comprehensive panel; must remain valid throughout assignment
• Physical exam within 1 year of start
• Fit mask test (N95 respirator) required and must be renewed annually
• Immunizations and health documentation:

  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
  • Tdap vaccine or declination (expires every 10 years)
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella immunity or vaccination/declination as applicable
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season (Sept-April)
• Various facility-specific documents including HIPAA acknowledgement, confidentiality form, hand hygiene, fingernail, and dress code policies must be reviewed and signed prior to start
• Orientation modules (approximately 16 hours) required through online platform unless completed in current calendar year

Competency Requirements

• Unit-specific competency exams, including:

  • Basic Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (Relias Basic Dysrhythmia or equivalent) required for telemetry and step-down specialties; must be completed for each new contract
  • Medication/pharmacology competency exam as applicable
• Skills checklist specific to unit required within 1 year of start

Additional Notes

• No on-call requirement
• Return to office (RTO) restrictions: no more than 7 days off per 13-week contract
• Parking available with monthly passes; free parking for straight night shifts in employee lots
• Facility is a Magnet & Teaching Hospital and Level I Trauma Center with 1,266 staffed beds
• Charting system: EPIC
• Scrub color: Navy Blue

• Two professional references required; supervisors within the last year preferred

Requirements/Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Missouri
• Minimum 2 years of experience in Progressive Care Unit (PCU) / Telemetry / Step-Down, with at least 1 year of PCU experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Current ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
