Registered Nurse – Emergency Room (Clinical Decisions)
Location: Chicago, Illinois
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Unit: Clinical Decisions Unit (CDU) – Emergency Room
- Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM)
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (2 weekends per month)
- Call Requirements: None
- Request Time Off (RTO): Up to 5 days maximum; no more than 2 consecutive days; no RTO on holidays, weekends, or the day before/after a holiday
- Floating: Mandatory floating within scope of practice as needed by the facility

Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois
- Minimum 1 year of recent clinical experience, including Emergency Department (ED) and Clinical Decision Unit (CDU) experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
Required Documents & Compliance
- Government-issued photo ID (driver’s license or state ID)
- Background check within 12 months covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years, including SSN trace and nationwide sex offender search
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
- Physical exam within 12 months, signed by PA, NP, DO, or MD
- Fit mask test (N95 or equivalent) within 1 year; medical or religious exemptions require approval for onsite PAPR use
- Tdap vaccine within 10 years or signed declination within 12 months
- Negative TB test (QGold or TSPOT) within 12 months; PPDs not accepted after 12/15/2025
- Immunizations or positive titers for Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR), Varicella, and Hepatitis B (or signed declination)
- Negative 9-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption during flu season (Oct 1 – May 4)
- Completion of PromisePoint EMR training modules prior to start
- Medication test/pharmacology competency exam and other competency exams as required, completed within 12 months of start
Additional Notes
- No block scheduling
- Locals accepted and preferred; local pay rate is lower
- Must complete all required facility-specific forms and training prior to start
- References follow state requirements for RNs
- Employment application and skills checklist required annually
