Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - IMC (Float Pool)

Work Schedule
- Day shift, 4 shifts per week, 12 hours each (6:30 AM – 7:00 PM)
- Total 48 hours per week
Unit and Patient Population
- Med/Surg Telemetry and Intermediate Care (IMC) units
- Float pool position: nurse will float between Med/Surg and IMC units
- Patient acuity includes acute respiratory distress, septic shock, hypertensive crisis, severe congestive heart failure, myocardial infarction, unstable angina, and trauma patients
- Nurse-to-patient ratios range from 1:4 to 1:6
Required Experience and Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Maryland
- Minimum 2 years of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience, including at least 1 year within the last year
- Minimum 2 years of Telemetry nursing experience in a hospital setting
- Comfortable managing nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4 to 1:6
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
- One completed travel nursing assignment
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
Required Certifications and Licenses
- Current Registered Nurse license in Maryland or compact state license with proof of state residency (driver’s license must match compact license state)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- Recent experience with EPIC electronic health record system is mandatory
Health and Safety Requirements
- Flu vaccine required (no declinations or exemptions accepted)
- Two-step PPD or equivalent TB screening within 1 year (with proper timing between tests)
- Tdap vaccine within 10 years
- Proof of immunity or vaccination for Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, and Hepatitis B (titer, vaccination, or declination)
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 1 year
- Physical exam within 1 year
- Fit mask test within 1 year (annual update required)
- Annual TB questionnaire
- Additional immunization boosters required if titers are negative (2 boosters 28 days apart)
Background and Compliance Checks
- 7-year criminal background check covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
- Annual EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
- Fingerprinting required for school placements only (must be completed in Maryland)
- Proof of E-Verify or attestation
Documentation and Competencies
- Proof of 2 clinical references
- Skills checklist updated annually (applicable units)
- Medication/pharmacology competency exam as applicable
- Orientation safety manual acknowledgement required
- NIH Stroke Certification required (except Pediatrics, OB, and Labor & Delivery); must be updated annually
- Core competency testing or signed HIPAA form for subcontractors
This position requires a highly experienced Med/Surg Telemetry and IMC nurse comfortable with floating between units and managing moderate to high acuity patients. Recent EPIC experience and all required certifications and immunizations must be current and documented.
