Pediatric ER Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Job – Albuquerque, New Mexico

Position Overview

• Specialty: Pediatric Emergency Room Registered Nurse
• Employment Type: Travel/Contract
• Location: Albuquerque, New Mexico
• Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts of 12 hours each (16:00 to 4:30)
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Contract Length: 13 weeks minimum (new contracts and extensions must be at least 10 weeks)
• Break Requirement: 6-month break required after 4 consecutive assignments or 1 year of cumulative work, whichever comes first
• Patient Ratios: Typically 1:4 (can increase during busy periods)
• Unit Details: Level I Trauma, Teaching Children’s Hospital, short-term acute care; may board admission holds during high census; trauma/resuscitation experience preferred
• Floating: Occasional float to Pediatric admission floors within scope of practice

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in New Mexico
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Minimum 2 years of Pediatric Emergency Room (ER) experience, with experience within the last year
• Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Current PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course) certification
• NIHSS (Stroke Certification)
• Successful completion of Relias Basic Dysrhythmia Exam
• Experience working with Pediatric patients

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Background Checks:

  • 7-year criminal background check within 30 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in last 7 years
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within one year of start
  • Fingerprinting required onsite during orientation (unless completed within past 12 months)
• Work History Verification: Minimum 3 years verified work history required
• References: Two professional references within last 3 years
• Employment Application: Complete with at least 3 years of work history
• Skills Checklist: Required
• Physical Exam: Within 1 year prior to start
• Drug Testing: Negative drug screen within 30 days of start; instant drug screens not accepted
• Immunizations & Health:

  • COVID vaccination required (religious and medical exemptions accepted with provider-signed exemption form)
  • Flu vaccine required year-round with exemptions accepted
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
  • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive IGG titer required; boosters may be required if titers are low/equivocal
  • Hepatitis B: Declination, series, or titer acceptable
• Fit Mask: Required within 1 year of start; only specific N95 masks accepted; PAPR accommodation available if needed
• Orientation & Training:

  • Cerner training attestation required (test-out option available for experienced users)
  • Relias Basic Dysrhythmia Exam required within 4 days of signing; must score 80% overall and 100% on lethal arrhythmia section; two attempts allowed before cancellation
  • Medication and pharmacology competency exams required
  • Orientation Safety Manual acknowledgement required
  • Traveler Compliance Form and Welcome PowerPoint review required

• Local Radius: No locals within 100 miles accepted
• Transportation: Valid non-local driver’s license required; location not near public transportation
• Overtime: OT applies after 48 hours starting 10/30/2025
• Schedule Flexibility: Block scheduling not guaranteed
