Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) - Travel/Contract
Location: Waconia, Minnesota
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
Hours per Week: 36
Job Description
- Provide comprehensive care for laboring patients, postpartum mothers, and newborns.
- Work within a collaborative Labor & Delivery team at a community hospital with approximately 1,500 annual deliveries.
- Responsibilities include care during vaginal deliveries, C-sections, postpartum recovery, and newborn stabilization.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Minnesota.
- Minimum of 2 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience, including experience within the last year.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
- Circulator experience preferred.
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID).
- Emergency contact form completed prior to start.
- Background checks including:
- Standard 7-year search (locations lived/worked/schooled)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM checks (annual)
- HHS/OIG checks (annual)
- Minnesota DHS NetStudy Fingerprinting and Photo via Livescan required within 12 months prior to start. Candidates must complete the MN DHS Net Study Questionnaire immediately after signing the contract. Fingerprinting must be completed before starting work unless a “more time needed” letter is approved by the facility.
- Physical exam within 1 year of start.
- Negative TB test (PPD, Quantiferon Gold, or T-spot) or chest x-ray per state requirements.
- Immunization or titer proof for:
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (titer, declination, or vaccine series)
- Varicella (titer, vaccine, or history of chickenpox)
- 9-panel drug screen within 1 year of start.
- Annual skills checklist and medication/pharmacology competency exam (minimum 80% passing score).
- Photo for badge required.
- Completion of facility-specific orientation materials prior to start.
- COVID-19 and Influenza vaccinations are highly recommended; religious and medical exemptions require facility-specific forms.
References
- Two professional references required for travel, allied, or per diem acute care roles (within 2 years of start).
Additional Notes
- Candidates must be in Minnesota 4-5 days prior to start to allow time for fingerprint processing.
- Fingerprinting exemptions and “more time needed” letters must be approved by the facility.
- Candidates unable to access Livescan locations nearby must travel to complete fingerprinting before assignment start.
This position offers an opportunity to work in a busy, supportive Labor & Delivery unit providing personalized, patient-centered care during night shifts.
