Description

Registered Nurse – Emergency Room (ER)

Location: Midland, Texas
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 12 weeks


Job Summary

  • Urgent need for ER Registered Nurse with experience in Level II or III trauma centers.
  • Care for both adults and children in a fast-paced emergency setting.
  • Day shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM).

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Texas.
  • Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience, including experience within the last year.
  • Experience working with Level 1 or Level 2 Trauma patients.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
  • Certifications (must have or be willing to obtain):
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
    • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
    • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
  • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification or competency.

Required Compliance and Documentation

  • Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID).
  • Background checks including:
    • 10-year criminal background check (all locations lived/worked).
    • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start.
    • Texas Department of Public Safety criminal history and employee misconduct registry checks within 30 days of start.
  • Education verification and highest level diploma/transcript as applicable.
  • NURSYS verification for RN license within 30 days of start.
  • Physical exam within 1 year, completed within 72 hours of contract signing.
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 12 months, completed within 72 hours of contract signing.
  • Immunizations/vaccinations or positive titers required within 72 hours of contract signing:
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B
    • Varicella
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
  • Drug testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start and onsite drug screen at orientation.
  • N95 Fit Test within 1 year of start (PAPR not accepted).
  • Flu vaccination or agency declination required during flu season (Oct 1 – Mar 31).
  • References: 2 required within 3 years of start.
  • Employment application/resume required.
  • Annual competency exams including medication/pharmacology and age-specific competencies.
  • Facility-specific documents and agreements must be reviewed and signed prior to start.

Additional Information

  • Must complete all required facility-specific orientation and compliance forms before starting.
  • Safety manual acknowledgement and annual updates required.
