Registered Nurse (IMC/PCU) - Travel/Contract Position
Location: Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
Job Details
- Unit: Intermediate Care (IMC) / Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
- Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts of 12 hours each (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM)
- Contract Length: 12 weeks
- Staffed Beds: 24
- Average Daily Census: 24
- Charting System: Epic
- Floating: Required within scope to meet facility needs, including sister facilities
- Block Schedule: Not accommodated
- Local Radius Rule: Candidate’s address must be more than 75 miles from the contracted facility
- Locals Accepted: No
- Return to Office (RTO) Restrictions: No more than 5 days allowed
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Oklahoma
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Progressive Care Unit (PCU), with at least 1 year of PCU experience within the last year
- Telemetry experience
- Minimum 1 year of total travel nursing experience
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Certifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- EKG Course or Telemetry Test
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Certification
Licensure
- Current, valid RN license for the state of Oklahoma (no pending licenses accepted)
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Valid Driver’s License or State-issued ID
- Utility bill in candidate’s name with matching address dated within last 3 months (address must be >75 miles from facility)
- Background checks including:
- 7-year criminal background check (statewide and nationwide)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, OFAC sanctions list (updated monthly)
- Education verification with transcript/diploma
- Health documents:
- Physical exam within 1 year confirming good health and no physical limitations
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within required timeframes
- Immunizations/vaccinations: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella, Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (with specific requirements for Tdap)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (declinations not accepted)
- Drug screening (10-panel including marijuana, within 30 days prior to start)
- Fit testing for N95 mask (completed onsite)
- Facility-specific acknowledgments and policy forms (e.g., Code of Ethical Business Conduct, Drug and Alcohol-Free Workplace Policy, Information Access Agreement)
- References: Two former direct supervisor references required (one within 1 year, one within 3 years)
- Employment history verification covering last 10 years, including explanations for gaps over 30 days
- Skills checklist and competency exams updated annually, including:
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (100% passing score)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (90% passing score)
- Core competency exams (Parts I, II, III) with 80% passing score
- Conscious Sedation competency exam (if applicable)
Additional Notes
- Candidates must complete Patient Care Orientation Class (Skills) and Epic training if no Epic experience within last 6 months
- Fit testing for N95 masks is required onsite prior to or on first day
- Candidates must comply with fingerprinting and state screening requirements prior to start
- Floating to sister facilities is required as part of the assignment
- No accommodation for block scheduling
- No acceptance of local candidates within 75 miles radius
This position is ideal for experienced travel RNs with critical care and telemetry skills who meet all licensure, certification, and compliance requirements and are willing to work a 3x12 day shift schedule in an Intermediate Care/Progressive Care setting.
