Job Opportunity: Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - Travel/Contract

Location

  • New Brunswick, New Jersey

Contract Length

  • 13 weeks

Shift Details

  • Night shift
  • 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM to 7:30 AM)
  • Every other weekend required (Friday/Saturday)

Patient Population

  • Adult and pediatric patients

Work Environment and Floating

  • Floating between PICU, Emergency Department, and Adult Critical Care units
  • Additional float units possible based on skill set and hospital needs

Required Experience

  • Minimum 1.5 years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist
  • PICU/NICU experience highly preferred
  • First-time travelers are accepted (prior travel experience not required)

Required Licenses and Certifications

  • New Jersey Respiratory Therapist License
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) certification

Preferred Certifications (can be obtained onsite)

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)

Clinical Skills and Procedures

  • Blood gas analysis
  • Ventilator, BiPAP, and High Flow initiation and management
  • Code response participation
  • In-house patient transport
  • Medication administration
  • Chest physiotherapy

Equipment Experience

  • Servo I ventilators
  • V60 BiPAP machines

Documentation System

  • EPIC electronic health record

Required Pre-Employment and Ongoing Compliance

  • Government-issued photo ID and driver's license (must match license name)
  • Criminal background check within 30 days of start (including alias and multi-level searches)
  • Drug screen within 30 days of start (10-panel urine test)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray per facility protocol
  • Physical exam within the last 12 months confirming fitness for duty and communicable disease free
  • Respiratory medical clearance and on-site fit testing (annual requirement)
  • Influenza vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption annually
  • Required health immunizations and titers: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B, Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
  • Color vision screening if job tasks require color discrimination
  • Completion of required competency exams including medication/pharmacology, dysrhythmia/EKG, and IV therapy (as applicable)
  • Pass/fail testing for EKG and medication knowledge with remediation policy
  • Annual education sign-off and facility-specific orientation requirements
  • References: Two within last 2 years, including at least one managerial reference
  • Employment application or resume with 7 years of work history and verification of prior employment (minimum 1 year verified for NJ candidates)

  • Valid Respiratory Therapist license in New Jersey
  • Minimum 1.5 years of Respiratory Therapist experience
  • Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) certification

Marigold is polite and professional. She goes above and beyond to ensure the contractor is well informed and has everything needed to be successful.
