Registered Nurse - PCU (Cape Girardeau, Missouri)

Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM)
Hours per Week: 36


Job Description

  • Must have cardiac nursing experience including:
    • Cardiac drips
    • Cardiothoracic surgeries
    • Chest pain management
    • Post cath lab interventions
    • Other cardiac-specific diagnoses
  • Experience with EPIC electronic medical record system required
  • Work location within a 75-mile radius

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Missouri (permanent license required; temporary licenses not accepted)
  • Minimum of 1 year of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification (AHA only)
  • Cardiac nursing experience including:
    • Cardiac drips
    • Cardiothoracic surgeries
    • Chest pain management
    • Post cath lab interventions
    • Other cardiac-specific diagnoses
  • Experience with Epic electronic medical record system
  • Must pass EPIC Pass/Fail testing onsite (2 attempts allowed)
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start
  • Mask fit test within 12 months of start (specific mask models required)
  • Immunizations and titers:
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines (or booster/declination as applicable)
    • Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines (or booster/declination as applicable)
    • Hepatitis B: Vaccine series, positive titer, or declination
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap: Required if applicable (e.g., NICU/Family Birthplace placements)
    • Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season or approved exemption documentation
  • Negative TB test (2-step PPD, QGOLD, or TSPOT) within 1 year; if positive, clear chest x-ray within 5 years and TB questionnaire within 1 year
  • Annual TB questionnaire required regardless of TB status
  • Completion of facility-specific e-learning modules prior to start
  • 2 professional references required
  • Annual skills checklist required

Background and Compliance Checks

  • 7-year criminal background check within 60 days of start, including all locations lived/worked and all aliases
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 60 days of start
  • Education verification of highest degree completed
  • Missouri state-specific employment database search within 60 days of start

Additional Requirements

  • Clear, passport-style photo for badge
  • Employment application required
  • Medication/pharmacology competency exam as applicable
  • Color blindness test (online acceptable)
  • Core competency exams as applicable

Marigold is polite and professional. She goes above and beyond to ensure the contractor is well informed and has everything needed to be successful. Onboarding is somewhat tedious, but they do dot every "i" and cross every T.
