Registered Nurse – CVPICU (Pediatric Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit)
Location: Portland, Oregon
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Unit: Pediatric Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVPICU)
- Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
- Weekend Requirement: Yes
- Floating: Yes, within hospital to NICU and Pediatric Units (no floating to sister hospitals)
- Start Day: Tuesdays
- Block Schedule: Not accommodated unless otherwise stated
- Locals Accepted: Yes
- Pending License Accepted: Yes, if application is submitted and received by licensing board
Patient Population & Care Scope
- Care for critically ill pediatric patients from birth to young adulthood
- Conditions include trauma, surgery, respiratory, cardiac, hematology/oncology, and neurologic disorders
- Procedures include central line and arterial line placement, lumbar puncture, intubations/extubations, CRRT initiation/discontinuation, ECMO cannulations/decannulations, chest exploration, and emergent operative procedures when transport to OR is not possible
- Equipment used: Hamilton G5 Ventilators, DirectLink ICP Monitors, Arctic Sun Targeted Temperature Management, Baxter Prismaflex Machines
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Oregon
- Minimum 2 years of experience in CVPICU, with CVPICU experience within the last year
- Experience in PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit) and CVICU (Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit)
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- PALS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Facility & Work Environment
- Magnet-designated, Level I Pediatric Trauma Center and Teaching Hospital
- 20-bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) specialized for critically ill children
- Charting system: EPIC
- Scrubs provided for OR; no prints allowed
- Parking fee: $15 Mon-Fri 8am-5pm
Additional Notes
- No call requirement
- All time off requests must be submitted at time of request
- Candidates must be fully available for compliance needs up until start date
- Facility requires review and signature of professional appearance policy, job description, coronavirus protocol attestation, and other facility-specific documents prior to start
- Radiation badge required prior to start for applicable roles (not specifically for this RN role unless assigned to Cath Lab or CV areas)
