Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Pediatric Cardiovascular ICU (CVPICU) position requiring CVICU and post-op hearts experience, with night shift availability and an active Oregon RN license.
Details
- Work in a 20-bed Pediatric Cardiovascular ICU (CVPICU) at a Magnet-designated, Level I Pediatric Trauma Center and academic teaching hospital
- Patient population includes critically ill and post-surgical pediatric patients from birth to young adulthood across trauma, cardiac, respiratory, hematology/oncology, and neurologic diagnoses
- Bedside procedures include central line placement, arterial line placement, lumbar puncture, intubation/extubation, CRRT initiation/discontinuation, ECMO cannulation/decannulation, chest exploration, and other emergent operative procedures performed at bedside
- Equipment used includes Hamilton G5 Ventilators, DirectLink ICP Monitors, Arctic Sun Targeted Temperature Management, and Baxter Prismaflex Machines
- Charting is performed in Epic; Epic experience is required
- Schedule is 3x12-hour night shifts (19:00–07:00)
- Weekend shifts are required
- Floating within the hospital to NICU and Pediatric Units is required; refusal to float may result in contract cancellation
- No on-call responsibilities
- Block scheduling is not available
Requirements
- Active Oregon (OR) RN license required; pending licensure may be accepted if application has been submitted to and received by the licensing board
- Current BLS and PALS certifications required; NRP preferred
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- CVICU and post-op cardiac surgery (hearts) experience is required — this is a hard stop requirement
- Epic EMR experience required
- Two manager or supervisor references from within the last 24 months required; charge RN references are not acceptable
- COVID vaccination proof required; no exemptions
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply provided they have 2+ years of PICU experience
- The CVPICU team includes board-certified pediatric intensivists available 24/7, along with respiratory therapists, pharmacists, nutritionists, speech therapists, physical therapists, occupational therapists, social workers, child life specialists, and more
- The unit operates in a family-centered care environment
- Scrubs are provided by the facility; no printed scrubs allowed
- All time-off requests (RTO) must be submitted at the time of consideration and are limited to no more than 2 weeks
- Local candidates are accepted at the same rate as travelers; no radius restriction applies
- Candidates who are former employees or prior travelers at this facility must provide a reference from the OHSU manager who previously supervised them
- Former travelers must have been away from the facility for at least 6 months before returning on a new assignment
