Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Monticello, Minnesota
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) with every third weekend required
Hours per Week: 36
Job Description
- Provide nursing care in a 6-bed Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum (LDRP) unit.
- Responsibilities include Labor and Delivery, Postpartum care, Triage, Antepartum care, Normal Newborn care, and Special Care Nursery infants (including infant IV starts and management, high flow oxygen).
- Patient population includes pregnancies of 36 weeks gestation or higher.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Minnesota.
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience, with at least some experience within the last year.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
Compliance and Background Requirements
- Criminal background check within one year of start, including:
- 7-year search, SS trace, counties, sex offender, nationwide checks.
- International background checks if candidate has lived/worked outside the U.S.
- Excluded provider checks (GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG) required.
- Primary source verification of education and licensure.
- Minnesota DHS NetStudy fingerprint clearance required prior to start; candidates cannot begin with fingerprints pending unless approved with a “more time needed” letter.
- Physical exam within one year of start.
- Required immunizations and health screenings:
- Tdap vaccination (no religious declinations accepted)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray per Minnesota state guidelines
- Proof of immunity or vaccination for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella
- Hepatitis B vaccination, positive titer, or declination
- Seasonal flu vaccination or declination (mask required if declined)
- Drug testing (9-panel) within one year of start (not required for client clearance but must be completed).
- Medication/pharmacology competency exam required annually (not required for NICU RNs).
Additional Requirements
- Two professional references from recent employers within the last 2 years.
- Skills checklist required.
- Completion of facility-specific education modules during orientation (approximately 16 hours).
- Candidate must complete a confidentiality agreement prior to start.
- Photo for badge with specific guidelines (grey background, no selfies, JPG format).
- Adherence to dress code policies.
- Candidates must return badges to management on last day of assignment.
Work Environment
- Night shift with every third weekend.
- Work involves direct patient care in Labor & Delivery and newborn care settings.
- Facility uses specific N95 masks for fit testing; fit test required.
