Job Opportunity: Urgent Care Registered Nurse

Location: Saratoga Springs, New York
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Guaranteed 32 hours per week, with shifts typically 12 hours long (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM or 9:00 AM - 9:30 PM)
  • Alternate weeks of 32 and 36 hours
  • Shift pattern: Day shifts, 3 shifts of 12 hours each per week
  • Must be willing to float to other units as needed based on skillset and manager discretion
  • Local candidates within a 50-mile radius are not accepted

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York
  • Minimum 1 year of Urgent Care experience within the last year
  • Emergency Department (ED) experience
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
  • Experience with Epic electronic charting system

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with triage and Level 1 trauma care

Health and Compliance Requirements

  • Flu vaccine required by November 1; medical or religious exemptions must be approved at least 2 weeks prior to start
  • Negative 2-step PPD or Quantiferon Gold test within 1 year of start (T-spot tests not accepted)
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start; must complete specific medical history forms during occupational health appointment
  • N95 mask fit test (quantitative test only) required; can be completed onsite or prior to start
  • Required immunizations or proof of immunity:
    • Measles (Rubeola): 2 MMR vaccines or positive titer
    • Mumps: 2 MMR vaccines or positive titer
    • Rubella: 2 MMR vaccines or positive titer
    • Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer or history of chickenpox
    • Hepatitis B: Titer, declination, or vaccine series (3 doses)
  • Eye exam including Ishihara color deficiency test required prior to start (can be completed onsite)
  • Child Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training as required by New York State

Testing and Competency Exams

  • Must pass an advanced EKG/ECG competency exam with a minimum 90% score within 72 hours of contract signing; 100% accuracy required on lethal rhythms
  • Medication/pharmacology competency exam as applicable
  • May be required to complete clinical remediation and retesting if initial EKG exam is failed (up to 3 attempts allowed)

Documentation and Onboarding

  • Government-issued photo ID required
  • Passport-style photo for badge (plain background, no hats or sunglasses)
  • Background checks including 7-year history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, and HHS/OIG checks
  • FCRA authorization release must be signed prior to start
  • Lift assessment (minimum 10-25 lbs depending on job position) completed during occupational health appointment
  • Completion of virtual general orientation and clinical testing modules prior to start date
  • References: 2 professional references required for travel, allied, and per diem acute care roles

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must not reside in specified local counties within a 50-mile radius of the facility
  • Flu season protocols require mask wearing in patient-facing areas if exemption is approved
  • Occupational health services (physical, fit test, questionnaires) will be billed to the staffing agency
  • Timely completion of all required certifications, tests, and documentation is mandatory for onboarding and contract start

This position is ideal for experienced Urgent Care or ED Registered Nurses with strong telemetry and rhythm interpretation skills, who are comfortable working extended day shifts and floating as needed.
