Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Newark, New York
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

Seeking Labor and Delivery Registered Nurses with experience in LDRP (Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum) and Newborn Nursery. The RN will independently provide comprehensive care across all phases of antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, and newborn care.


Work Schedule

  • Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM)
  • Weekend Coverage: Rotating, every other weekend
  • On Call: Required
  • Floating: Required within skillset

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in New York
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Minimum 1 year of Labor and Delivery experience, with experience within the last year
  • Experience in LDRP (Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum) and Nursery care
  • Experience working with Maternal-Fetal and Neonate patients
  • Experience in an Acute Care setting
  • ACLS certification
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
  • Experience with Epic electronic medical record system

Additional Requirements

  • Must be able to provide care independently in all phases of maternal and newborn care
  • Floating to other units as needed within skillset
  • On-call availability required
  • First-time travel nurses accepted (prior travel experience not required)

Health and Compliance Requirements

Candidates must complete the following health-related requirements and lab work within 5 days of contract signing:

  • Physical exam (within 1 year)
  • Fit mask test (annual)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (within 1 year)
  • Immunizations or proof of immunity for:
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B
    • Varicella
  • Drug screening (within 30 days of start)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination (during flu season)
  • Snellen eye exam (within 1 year)
  • COVID vaccination copy preferred but not required

Background and Verification

  • Government-issued photo ID required
  • 7-year criminal background check (including felony checks) within 3 months of start
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 3 months of start, updated monthly
  • Education verification from primary source required
  • Employment verification of at least 2 past employments
  • References (2 within last 3 years) required for direct hire candidates
  • State-specific checks including sex offender registry and Medicaid exclusion list

Documentation and Competencies

  • Orientation safety manual acknowledgement required
  • Medication/pharmacology competency exam as required
  • Color blindness testing required (one-time)
  • Competency exams as required by specialty
  • State license primary source verification within 30 days of start
  • NURSYS verification for RN license within 30 days of start

Notes

  • Candidates must have experience in LDRP and newborn nursery care
  • Experience in electronic fetal monitoring (EFM) certification is preferred but not mandatory
  • Floating and on-call duties are part of the role
  • Rotating weekend coverage every other weekend

This position offers an opportunity to work in a comprehensive OB setting with a focus on maternal and newborn care in a travel nurse capacity.
