Nurse Manager

  • Evenings
  • 8-hour shifts
  • Every other weekend
  • May be asked to float to inpatient units

Contract Length

13 weeks

Required Qualifications

  • 1 year of psych experience
  • BLS
  • ACLS
  • PALS
  • CPI

Preferred Qualifications

  • Some medical experience
  • De-escalation experience
  • Leather restraint use
  • MSN preferred
  • Certification in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing preferred

Unit / Role Details

  • Patient Care Manager role
  • Reports to the DON
  • Charge nurse does not take a patient assignment
  • 45-bed unit
  • Typical patient ratio: 1:6-12 depending on acuity
  • Average daily volume: 15-45 patients
  • No prior ED experience required
  • First-time travelers accepted

Clinical / Operational Notes

  • Common patient population includes severe mental illness and behavioral issues
  • Patients are typically medically stable; medically unstable patients are transferred out
  • No IVs; medications include IM injections and PO administration
  • PCTs handle blood draws, transport, 1:1s, and other support duties
  • RT is available
  • No cardiac monitoring; staff should be able to identify major and life-threatening rhythms
  • X-ray and CT are available in the main ER
  • 3 weeks of orientation provided

  • May be asked to participate in holiday rotation
  • Scrub color: Royal Blue

Marigold is polite and professional. She goes above and beyond to ensure the contractor is well informed and has everything needed to be successful. She helped me with onboarding and getting used to the timesheet app and she answers my texts promptly, even after hours. She is a great recruiter liason. Gladys was a super helpful with onboarding and Denise will hook you up with benefits with no trouble at all. Great team to work with.

Cons

Onboarding is somewhat tedious, but they do dot every "i" and cross every T.
