RN - Step Down

Job Overview

• Location: Saint Louis, Missouri
• Employment type: Travel
• Contract length: 16 weeks
• Shift: Nights, 7:00 PM–7:30 AM
• Weekly hours: 36 or 48 hours, as selected on the submission form
• Weekend requirement: Every other weekend
• Call: None
• Float: As needed to a similar or lower acuity unit
• Orientation: Night shift orients on day shift; traveler must be available the entire week for orientation
• Offer type: Auto-offer, contingent upon facility approval

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Missouri
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• 1 year of Cardiac Stepdown experience
• Cardiac Stepdown experience within the last year
• BLS certification from AHA
• ACLS certification from AHA
• Flu vaccination or approved exemption is required for travelers from November 1 through April 1

Preferred Qualifications

• NIHSS certification

Unit Details

• Specialty: Cardiac Stepdown
• Patient ratio: 1:3–1:4
• Beds: 32
• Common equipment includes chest tubes, temporary pacemakers, and BiPAPs
• Patient population includes post-op CABG/valve, thoracotomies, respiratory failure, and chest pain

Work Environment

• Inpatient only
• Team-oriented environment
• Physical demands include standing and walking most of the time, frequent bending/stooping, and lifting/turning patients with assistance
• Exposure to blood and body fluids is high risk
• May require pushing, pulling, and gripping up to 50 lbs

Dress Code

• All black scrubs with logo on top
• No hoodies, jackets without logo, t-shirts, open-toed shoes, earbuds, or fake nails
