NICU Registered Nurse
Overview
- Location: Washington, District of Columbia
- Employment type: Travel/Contract
- Contract length: 16 weeks
- Shift: Rotating day/night schedule, 3x12-hour shifts
- Weekly hours: 36
- Start dates: 8/17 or 9/14
- Setting: Teaching hospital, Level 1 Trauma Center, neonatal intensive care unit
Key Responsibilities
- Provide care for premature and ill newborns in a high-acuity NICU
- Float to other critical care units as needed
- Care for patients of any age within scope
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in District of Columbia
- NICU - Neonatal Intensive Care (2 years of experience)
- NICU - Neonatal Intensive Care experience within the last year
- One completed travel assignment
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support issued by American Heart Association
- BLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association
- PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support issued by American Heart Association
- Recent Tracheostomy and Ventilator experience
Schedule Expectations
- Every other weekend
- Every other holiday
- No more than 7 days of requested time off
- Missed shifts must be made up within the same week
Additional Notes
- First-time travelers are not accepted
- Local candidates are accepted
- No on-call requirement
- Block scheduling may be accommodated but is not guaranteed
- Scrubs: any color, no logos, child-friendly
- Charting system: Cerner
