NICU Registered Nurse

Overview

• Shift: Night, 3x12 hours, 19:00–7:30
• Hours per week: 36
• Contract length: 13 weeks

Role Summary

Provide specialized nursing care for neonates in a Level III NICU, including patients from 22 weeks gestation and above. The role includes managing respiratory distress, glucose management, and care for neonates needing surgical or cardiac interventions.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Ohio
• NICU - Neonatal Intensive Care (1 year of experience)
• NICU - Neonatal Intensive Care experience within the last year
• BLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing

Key Clinical Skills

• Respiratory management, including ventilator settings and adjustments
• Arterial line management and central line care
• IV therapy and umbilical artery/vein catheter management
• Gastrointestinal feeding methods, including oral, nasogastric, and nasojejunal tubes
• Infection control measures
• Neonatal abstinence syndrome interventions

Additional Notes

• Candidates with prior experience at Nationwide Children’s Hospital will be given special consideration.
• The unit uses EPIC for documentation and Pyxis for medication administration.
