Oncology Registered Nurse
Job Overview
- Travel/contract RN position in Kansas City, Missouri
- Day shift: 3x12 hours, 6:45 AM–7:15 PM
- 36 hours per week
- Contract length: 13 weeks
- Patient ratio: 1:5
- First-time travelers accepted
Unit Details
- Primary oncology unit caring for patients across all phases of cancer treatment
- Inpatient chemotherapy is administered on the unit
- Includes post-op care for uro-gyn and gyn-onc surgical patients
- Also serves as a step-down neuro overflow unit for strokes, head bleeds, and other neurological needs
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Missouri
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Oncology experience (2 years of experience)
- Oncology experience within the last year
- BLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association
- ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support issued by American Heart Association
- Regular floating may be required between departments, units, and facilities
- 8 weekend shifts in each 6-week schedule period
- No more than 7 days of requested time off
- Home address must be at least 75 miles from the facility
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous charge experience
- Teaching hospital experience

- IV therapy and infusions
- Blood and blood product administration
- Central line and port care
- Telemetry interpretation and monitoring
- Neutropenic precautions
- Wound care
- Chemotherapy administration and related patient education
- Oncology emergency recognition and management
Additional Notes
- Holiday shifts and charge RN assignments may be required as needed
- On-call is not required
- Block scheduling is not available
