ICU Travel/Contract RN

Overview

  • Location: Roanoke, Virginia
  • Employment type: Travel/Contract
  • Shift: Night, 3x12 hours, 6:45 PM–7:15 AM
  • Contract length: 13 weeks
  • Scheduling: May be scheduled every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week block; one holiday per 13-week contract
  • Floating: May float 2–3 times per shift across ICU, PCU, and MS units
  • First-time travelers accepted
  • Local candidates accepted

Role Summary

  • Float RN covering ICU, PCU, and MS units
  • Must be comfortable working all three specialties
  • Must be comfortable working with ratios of at least 1:5

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Virginia
  • ICU - Intensive Care Unit (2 years of experience)
  • ICU - Intensive Care Unit experience within the last year
  • ACLS issued by American Heart Association
  • BLS issued by American Heart Association
  • NIHSS
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • IV therapy experience
  • PICC line management experience
  • Central line care and management experience
  • Arterial line management experience
  • Blood product administration experience
  • Trach management experience
  • Non-invasive airway support experience including nasal cannula, CPAP/BiPAP, and ventilator management
  • Chest tube management experience with Emerson/PleurEvac equipment
  • Continuous IV sedation experience
  • Ability to titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips
  • Experience with Epic

Required Clinical Skills

  • IV therapy
  • Phlebotomy
  • PICC line management
  • Central line care and management
  • Arterial line management
  • Blood product administration
  • Trach management
  • Non-invasive airway support, including nasal cannula, CPAP/BiPAP, ventilator management, and chest tubes
  • Cardiac monitoring
  • Continuous IV sedation
  • Emergency medications
  • Titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips

Compliance and Pre-Start Items

  • Driver’s license or state ID required within 48 hours of signing
  • E-Verify or attestation required
  • 7-year background check required within 1 year of start
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM required within 30 days of start
  • HHS/OIG required within 30 days of start
  • Education verification of highest earned degree required
  • NURSYS verification required for RNs
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start
  • Fit mask test within 1 year of start
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start
  • TB questionnaire required
  • Drug screen within 30 days of start
  • Measles, mumps, rubella, hepatitis B, and varicella immunity/vaccination documentation required
  • 2 clinical references required
  • Application/resume required
  • Skills checklist required

Additional Notes

  • RTO, block scheduling, and special scheduling requests must be submitted with the application
  • Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks

Marigold is polite and professional. She goes above and beyond to ensure the contractor is well informed and has everything needed to be successful. Cons

Onboarding is somewhat tedious, but they do dot every "i" and cross every T.
