Job Overview

  • Location: Newport News, Virginia
  • Employment type: Travel/Contract
  • Shift: Day, 3x12 hours, 7:00 AM–7:30 PM
  • Hours per week: 36
  • Contract length: 13 weeks

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Virginia
  • CVOR (1 year of experience)
  • CVOR experience within the last year
  • ACLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Cardiothoracic surgery experience with high-acuity surgical support
  • General OR proficiency with ability to circulate across core service lines
  • Experience with Epic

Preferred Experience

  • Scrubbing experience is a plus

Unit Details

  • Multi-service Level II Trauma Center
  • 15 operating suites, including 1 hybrid OR
  • 3 cardiothoracic surgeons and 5 vascular surgeons

Schedule Expectations

  • Four weekday call shifts per month
  • Four weekend call shifts per month, covering both day and night

Compliance / Onboarding

  • 2 professional references required
  • Application/resume required
  • Government-issued photo ID required
  • E-Verify required
  • TB screening documentation required
  • Drug screen required
  • Flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season
  • COVID vaccine series preferred; if not provided, a facility declination form is used
  • Measles, mumps, rubella, varicella, and hepatitis B documentation required
  • Physical exam within the last 12 months required
  • Virginia state police background check required before start
  • Fingerprinting required
  • Annual background check, skills checklist, and certain health documentation updates required

Pros

Marigold is polite and professional. She goes above and beyond to ensure the contractor is well informed and has everything needed to be successful. She helped me with onboarding and getting used to the timesheet app and she answers my texts promptly, even after hours. She is a great recruiter liason. Gladys was a super helpful with onboarding and Denise will hook you up with benefits with no trouble at all. Great team to work with.

Cons

Onboarding is somewhat tedious, but they do dot every "i" and cross every T.
