Operating Room Nurse
Job Overview
- Travel/contract role in Springfield, Illinois
- 13-week contract
- Day shift: 5x8 hours, 6:45 AM–3:15 PM
- 40 hours per week
- Weekend coverage: 1 per month
- On-call required: 1 per week
- Floating may be required within skill set
- Block scheduling is not available
- First-time travelers are not accepted
- Local candidates are not accepted; must live at least 50 miles from the facility
- Time off requests must be reviewed and approved by the manager
Required Qualifications
- Active Illinois RN license in hand or in process
- Minimum 3 years of operating room experience
- General OR and trauma experience
- Level I trauma experience
- BLS certification
- Must be able to work with all service lines except cardiovascular
Preferred Qualifications
- CNOR
- CST
- Cerner experience
Clinical Experience Needed
- Bariatric laparoscopic-assisted cases
- General surgery: appendectomy, cholecystectomy, colon resection, inguinal/umbilical hernia repair, laparoscopic-assisted procedures, mastectomy, partial/total thyroidectomy, Whipple
- Neurology: cervical fusion, craniotomy, laminectomy/discectomy, lumbar fusion
- Orthopedics: arthroscopy, carpal tunnel release, closed reduction of fractures, open reduction of fractures
- Plastic surgery: free flap microvascular
- Transplant: organ donation
- Urology: cystoscopy, nephrectomy, prostatectomy
- Trauma: amputations, gunshot/stab wounds, motor vehicle accident with multiple injuries
- Emergency management: code response, fire safety, latex allergy, malignant hyperthermia
- Equipment/instrumentation: electrosurgical units, fiber optic light sources/cords, Hana tables
- Professional skills: blood product administration, infection control, radiation safety, specimen handling/labeling, universal protocol/time-out procedure, urinary bladder catheterization
