ICU Registered Nurse
Location
- Saint Louis, Missouri
Contract
- Travel/contract assignment
- 13 weeks
- Night shift, 3x12 hours
- Can sign for 36 or 48 hours per week
- Guaranteed hours: 36
Unit and setting
- ICU-Oncology
- Short-term acute care hospital
- Magnet, teaching hospital, Level I trauma center
- 25 beds
- Average daily census: 21
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:2
Required qualifications
- Valid RN license in Missouri
- ICU - Intensive Care Unit (2 years of experience)
- ICU - Intensive Care Unit experience within the last year
- ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support issued by American Heart Association
- BLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Experience with Epic
Schedule and assignment details
- Weekend requirement: every other weekend
- May float within scope to oncology floors, oncology service line, ICU, and potentially anywhere as needed
- No on-call
- No block schedule
- Local candidates not accepted within a 75-mile radius
- No more than 7 days of requested time off per 13-week contract
Key clinical skills and responsibilities
- Dysrhythmia interpretation and management
- Multi-system organ failure care
- IV insulin protocols
- Arterial line management
- Blood product administration
- Central line and PICC line care
- Starting IVs
- Continuous IV sedation and procedural sedation administration
- Titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips
- BiPAP, ventilator, and high-flow nasal cannula care
- ABG interpretation
- Suctioning and infection prevention
- Isolation precautions and PPE use
- Phlebotomy
- Surgical wound care with drains and wound vac
Preferred
- BSN
- Teaching hospital experience
- Travel experience
Additional notes
- No chemotherapy, central lines, or chest tubes on this unit
- Nurses draw their own phlebotomy
- Navy blue scrubs
- Parking is available for an additional cost
