RN - Step Down

Job Overview

• Travel RN position in Saint Louis, Missouri
• Specialty: Surgical Stepdown
• Shift: Days, 7:00 AM–7:30 PM
• Assignment length: 13 weeks
• Weekly guaranteed hours: 36 or 48

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Missouri
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Driver's License
• Stepdown (2 years of experience)
• Stepdown experience within the last year
• ICU experience
• Bipap experience
• Cardiac gtt experience
• BLS issued by American Heart Association
• ACLS issued by American Heart Association

Key Experience / Skills

• Stepdown or ICU experience
• Post-op care
• Bipap
• Cardiac drip management
• Time management
• Critical thinking

Schedule / Work Expectations

• Every other weekend required
• No call required
• May float to any department with equal or lower acuity when needed
• Block scheduling may be approved based on facility requirements
• RTO of 5 days or less must be made up on the back end
• Only one holiday RTO request per assignment

Clinical Setting

• Surgical Stepdown unit
• 29 beds
• Patient ratio: 1:3/4
• Cares for post-op, trauma, and high-acuity medical patients

Compliance / Health Requirements

• Flu vaccination or approved exemption required for all travelers from November 1 to April 1
• Declinations are not accepted

Working Conditions

• Frequent standing and walking
• May involve bending, stooping, lifting, turning patients with assistance, pushing, pulling, gripping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling
• High exposure risk to blood and body fluids
• May need to work varying schedules, shifts, days, or work frequency based on patient care needs
• Physical demands include pushing, pulling, and gripping up to 50 lbs and pinching up to 15 lbs

Dress Code

• Black scrubs
• Must meet facility uniform standards
