RN - Med Surg

Job Overview

  • Location: Saint Louis, Missouri
  • Employment type: Travel
  • Shift: Nights, 7:00 PM–7:30 AM
  • Assignment length: 13 weeks
  • Weekly hours: 36 or 48, as selected on submission
  • Weekend requirement: Every other weekend
  • Call: None
  • Auto-offer: Yes

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Missouri
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • BLS issued by American Heart Association
  • Med Surg (1 year of experience)
  • Med Surg experience within the last year
  • Experience in an inpatient setting
  • Driver's License

Preferred Qualifications

  • ACLS certification from AHA

Work Expectations

  • May be floated to other units based on staffing needs
  • Night shift orientation occurs on day shift, and the traveler must be available the entire week for orientation
  • RTO of 5 days or less must be made up on the back end
  • Only 1 holiday RTO request is allowed per assignment
  • Blocked scheduling may be approved based on facility requirements and must be listed on the submission form

Unit Details

  • Med Surg unit
  • 15 beds currently, with 15 more under construction
  • Typical patient ratios: 1:5–6 on days and 1:6–7 on nights; ratios are not guaranteed

Clinical Environment

  • Patient population includes med/surg patients
  • Uses the nursing process to provide direct patient care across all age groups
  • High exposure risk to blood and body fluids
  • Physical demands include standing and walking most of the shift, bending, stooping, lifting and turning patients with assistance, and pushing/pulling/gripping up to 50 lbs

Dress Code

  • Black scrubs
  • No open-toed shoes

Pros

Marigold is polite and professional. She goes above and beyond to ensure the contractor is well informed and has everything needed to be successful. She helped me with onboarding and getting used to the timesheet app and she answers my texts promptly, even after hours. She is a great recruiter liason. Gladys was a super helpful with onboarding and Denise will hook you up with benefits with no trouble at all. Great team to work with.

Cons

Onboarding is somewhat tedious, but they do dot every "i" and cross every T.
