Description

Rehab Nurse

Overview

  • Travel/contract role in Saint Joseph, Missouri
  • Night shift: 3x12 hours, 19:00–07:30
  • 36 hours per week
  • Local candidates accepted within a 50-mile radius at a reduced rate
  • Contract length: 13 weeks

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Missouri
  • Rehabilitation (1 year of experience)
  • Rehabilitation experience within the last year
  • BLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • NIHSS
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing

Schedule and Work Expectations

  • 3 or 4 shifts per week, depending on contract
  • Every 3rd weekend required
  • Holiday block required during the contract
  • Weekend/holiday time off requests must be pre-approved before joining
  • Travelers must complete all mandatory education
  • No smoking or leaving the premises during the shift

Clinical Setting

  • Acute rehab unit caring for patients discharged from the medical center who need at least 1 week of physical, speech, or occupational therapy
  • Typical patient ratio: 1:5 on days and 1:5–6 on nights
  • Common patients include post-surgical, post-stroke, CHF, falls, weakness, altered mental status, elective total joints, hip/femur fractures, back/neck surgery, stroke/TIA, pneumonia, wounds, and COPD
  • Non-tele unit
  • May be floated to any like unit within the hospital

Responsibilities

  • Provide daily care activities
  • Perform IV insertions and lab draws during shifts
  • Work with physical therapy and care management to support discharge planning

Additional Notes

  • Self-scheduling is used, but incoming travelers may have limited options because the schedule is built 6 weeks in advance
  • Willing to train caregivers as needed
  • Extension and permanent conversion may be possible for the right candidate
  • Consistent attendance is essential

Cons

Onboarding is somewhat tedious, but they do dot every "i" and cross every T.
