Pediatric Critical Care Registered Nurse

Location

  • Newark, New Jersey

Job Type

  • Travel/Contract
  • 13-week assignment
  • Night shift, 3x12 hours
  • 36 hours per week

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in New Jersey
  • CVPICU (2 years of experience)
  • CVPICU experience within the last year
  • One completed travel assignment
  • BLS issued by American Heart Association
  • PALS issued by American Heart Association
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • 1 year of cardiac experience
  • PICU - Pediatric Intensive Care experience
  • Experience with Epic

Clinical Experience and Skills

  • IV therapy, including port access, blood product administration, central line care, PICC management, and TPN/lipids
  • Phlebotomy
  • Urinary catheter insertion and management
  • Infection control and PPE
  • Wound care
  • BiPAP/CPAP
  • Ventilator care
  • Airway maintenance
  • Chest tube and intubation assistance
  • ETCO2 monitoring
  • HFNC
  • Suctioning
  • Tracheostomy care
  • Insulin administration
  • Gastric/NG tube management
  • Anti-seizure medications
  • Antiarrhythmics
  • IV vasopressors
  • Pediatric dosage calculations
  • Broselow system
  • Congenital heart disease/repair care
  • CT patient care including valve replacements
  • Glenn and Fontan procedures
  • Cardiac cath and ablation care
  • Cardiac transplant care
  • Post-cardiac surgery care
  • Hemodynamic monitoring

Unit Details

  • 19-bed unit
  • Patient population includes infants, adolescents, and pediatrics
  • Floating may include Pediatrics and NICU if needed, within skillset
  • Navy blue scrubs

Pros

Marigold is polite and professional. She goes above and beyond to ensure the contractor is well informed and has everything needed to be successful. She helped me with onboarding and getting used to the timesheet app and she answers my texts promptly, even after hours. She is a great recruiter liason. Gladys was a super helpful with onboarding and Denise will hook you up with benefits with no trouble at all. Great team to work with.

Cons

Onboarding is somewhat tedious, but they do dot every "i" and cross every T.
