Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Pediatric Cardiovascular ICU night shift position requiring 2+ years of PICU experience with 1 year of cardiac critical care experience.
Details
- 19-bed unit caring for infants, adolescents, and pediatric patients
- Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00-7:30
- Patient ratio of 1:2 or higher, varying with census and acuity
- Every other weekend required
- Floating to Pediatrics and NICU as needed within skillset
- Navy blue scrubs required
Requirements
- Active NJ or Compact RN license required
- Required certifications: BLS, PALS (NRP preferred)
- Minimum 2 years of PICU critical care experience with 1 year of cardiac experience required, documented on skills checklist
- EPIC charting experience required
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Skilled in IV therapy including port access, blood product administration, central line care, PICC management, and TPN/lipids
- Respiratory and airway management skills including BiPAP/CPAP, ventilator care, ETCO2 monitoring, HFNC, suctioning, and tracheostomy care
- Experience with congenital heart disease/repair (ASD, VSD, AV Canal Defect, TOF), Glenn and Fontan procedures, post-cardiac surgery, and hemodynamic monitoring
- Experience with dysrhythmia interpretation/management and telemetry monitoring
- Proficiency with specialty procedures including peritoneal dialysis, hemodialysis, lumbar puncture assistance, and VP shunt care
- Pediatric dosage calculation skills and familiarity with the Broselow system
Additional Information
- Provide critical care nursing to complex pediatric cardiac patients including congenital heart disease, cardiac transplant, and post-surgical cases
- Utilize standard PICU equipment and cardiac monitoring including Medtronic pacemakers
- Must work 1 of 2 or 2 of 3 holidays per unit needs
- First-time travelers are not accepted for this role
- Former RWJBarnabas Health employees (full-time or PRN) must be separated from the system for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
- Local candidates accepted at the same rate
