Emergency Department RN
Overview
- Travel/contract assignment in Brooklyn, New York
- 12-week assignment
- 2 openings
- Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 3:00 PM to 3:30 AM
- Every other weekend
- 36 hours of orientation
Unit / Setting
- Combined adult and pediatric Emergency Department
- Level I / Level II Trauma Center
- Approximately 265 patients per day
- 53 rooms
- Patient population includes neonates, infants, pediatrics, adolescents, and adults
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in New York
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- BLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association
- ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support issued by American Heart Association
- PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support issued by American Heart Association
- TNCC - Trauma Nursing Core Course
- ED - Emergency Department (1 year of experience)
- ED - Emergency Department experience within the last year
- Experience working with Adult patients
- Experience working with Pediatric patients
- Trauma experience
- Experience with Epic
Preferred
- Previous charge experience
- Teaching hospital experience
- LTAC experience
- Community hospital experience

- Phlebotomy and IV starts/maintenance

- Procedural sedation monitoring
- CVA, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, and hypothermia protocols
- Orthopedic trauma
- Pediatric abdominal pain, infection, respiratory infection, and seizures
- Acute psychosis, drug overdose, psychiatric holds, suicidal patients, and violent behavior
- BiPAP/CPAP and ventilator management
- Chest tube management
- ABG interpretation and intubation
- Gunshot wounds and traumatic amputations
