Registered Nurse, Operating Room

Overview

  • Contract role in Gardner, Massachusetts.
  • 13-week assignment.
  • 40-hour day shift: 4/10-hour days, 6:30 am - 5:00 pm, with call rotation.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing.
  • Valid RN license in Massachusetts.
  • BLS.
  • OR - Operating Room (1 year of experience).
  • OR - Operating Room experience within the last year.

Preferred Qualifications

  • O.R. nursing experience.
  • CNOR.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provides perioperative nursing care in the operating room, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing interventions and patient goals.
  • Collaborates with the surgeon, anesthesiologist, clinical coordinator, and surgical technicians during surgical intervention.
  • Maintains sterile fields, aseptic practice, and correct handling and sterilization of sterile supplies and instruments.
  • Verifies patient identity, operative procedure, and site before transport to the operating room.
  • Maintains sponge, needle, and instrument counts.
  • Handles specimens and cultures according to policy.
  • Safely administers medications and intravenous therapy.
  • Documents care, patient responses, and medication reconciliation accurately and on time.

Pros

Marigold is polite and professional. She goes above and beyond to ensure the contractor is well informed and has everything needed to be successful. She helped me with onboarding and getting used to the timesheet app and she answers my texts promptly, even after hours. She is a great recruiter liason. Gladys was a super helpful with onboarding and Denise will hook you up with benefits with no trouble at all. Great team to work with.

Cons

Onboarding is somewhat tedious, but they do dot every "i" and cross every T.
