1E MedSurg - 15 RN

Overview

• Location: Parkersburg, West Virginia
• Contract length: 13 weeks
• Shift: Days, 12 hours per day, 36 hours per week
• Unit: 1E - MedSurg/Infectious Disease
• Bed count: 18 beds, all private rooms due to Infectious Diseases

Required Qualifications

• RN license
• BLS (AHA)
• Unexpired driver’s license copy must be included with submittals
• Travel experience required
• EPIC experience required
• Strong knowledge in MedSurg, ID, and isolation precautions

Unit Details

• Patient population includes Infectious Disease, Isolation, COVID, MRSA, and C-Diff
• Typical nurse ratio: 1:5-6
• Ratio may be 1:4 if Covid
• No cardiac drips
• Common drips and medications include Heparin, typical MedSurg IV medications, and antibiotics
• Charge nurse is available 24/7
• 2 CNAs per shift
• No vents; patients may have CPAP, BiPAP, or high flow managed by RT
• Remote Tele is monitored from the 3rd floor; RNs do not read or interpret strips

Scheduling and Float

• Every-other-weekend required
• Holidays are based on unit needs
• May be called off for low census depending on contract
• Floating is required to any MedSurg units
• If floated to Tele, patients will be assigned within skillset
• Travelers are the first to float

Orientation

• 1 day of EPIC orientation
• 1 day on the floor with a preceptor
• 3rd day on their own

Dress Code

• Royal blue scrubs
• Scrub jackets are allowed only if they are actual scrub jackets and royal blue
• Hoodies and sweat-jackets are not allowed
