Labor and Delivery

Overview

• Travel/Contract RN role in Rochester, New York
• 13-week assignment
• Day and night 12-hour shifts available
• Every other weekend required
• Every other holiday required if needed
• No on-call requirement
• First-time travelers accepted
• RN locals within 75 miles are not accepted
• Will float within skillset

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in New York
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Labor and Delivery (1 year of experience)
• Labor and Delivery experience within the last year
• ACLS issued by American Heart Association
• BLS issued by American Heart Association
• NRP
• EFM
• Experience with Epic

Clinical Skills

• Assist with vaginal delivery
• Circulate for C-section
• Recover C-section
• Magnesium Sulfate therapy
• Pitocin (oxytocin, Terbutaline)
• APGAR scores
• Baby Nurse (“Baby Catcher”)
• ID/Security Banding
• Radiant Warmers/Thermoregulation
• Foley catheter insertion/management
• Fundus/lochia/perineum care
• Post Partum Hemorrhage
• Pregnancy induced hypertension
• NST (Non Stress Tests)
• Use of EFM (External Fetal Heart Monitoring)
• Use of IUPC (Intrauterine pressure catheter) placement and calibration

Unit Details

• All pregnant patients at any gestational age accepted by the provider team are cared for
• Triage evaluates all pregnant patients at any gestational age and all postpartum patients within 6 weeks of delivery
• GE Fetal & Telemetry Monitors
• “Monica” wireless fetal monitoring
• Neopuff
• Draeger newborn warmers
