Cardiac Step Down RN

Role Overview

• Cardiac Step Down RN in a Progressive Care Unit
• 1:4 patient ratio
• Night shift, 12 hours
• Every other weekend
• 44 beds
• Floating is to ICU, but the role would only take stepdown patients unless ICU experience is noted on the contract

Required Qualifications

• RN license in Georgia
• ACLS
• BLS
• 2 years of Stepdown experience in an acute care setting
• Must be within 75 miles of the facility based on the address on the traveler’s driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications

• NIHSS
• Ability to pull pacer wires

Unit Details

• Cardiology-4A/4B
• 4A is more cardiothoracic and cardiovascular surgery
• 4B is for smaller procedures, drips, and CHF patients
• Telemetry is used
• Must read and interpret strips
• Common patient types include CABG, cardiovascular surgery, fem pops, arteriogram, CEA, thoracotomy, VATS, EVARs, AAA repairs, carotid endarterectomies, stents, pacemakers, ablations, AICD, CHF, afib w/ RVR, CABG w/ pacer wires, adenosine cardioversions, and chest tubes
• Drips include Cardizem, amiodarone, dobutamine, dopamine renal dose, lasix, bumex, heparin, primicor, and vaprosol
• Vent support includes BiPap, CPAP only during sleep, vapotherm, and high flow oxygen; no full vents
• Floor orientation is 3 shifts
• Hospitalist or Intensivist is in house 24/7
• RT is available 24/7
• Pharmacy is available 24/7
• PICC team is available
• Average census is 32-38 patients
• Busy days may include 12-16 discharges and admits in one shift

• Clinical interview or auto-offer may be used based on resume review
• Must be flexible with holidays and days around holidays
• Dress code: natural colored hair, no fake nails or shellac, no facial piercings, no visible tattoos
