Description
Cardio Thoracic ICU RN
Overview
- Travel/Contract assignment in Chesapeake, Virginia
- 13 weeks, with possible extension
- Night shift: 3x12s or 4x12s
- Every other weekend, floating, and holidays within the contract are required
- 48-hour contracts are available with overtime billed after 48 hours
- Cannot accommodate block scheduling
- Travelers must work two of the three winter holidays
- Typical patient ratio: 1:1-2
- Universal bed model includes step down patients
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Virginia
- CTICU - Cardiothoracic Intensive Care (2 years of experience)
- CTICU - Cardiothoracic Intensive Care experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Experience with Epic
- No license or background hits
Required Certifications
- BLS issued by American Heart Association
- ACLS issued by American Heart Association
- NIHSS
Required Skills
- Arterial line management
- Blood product administration
- Central line care and management
- PICC line management
- Continuous intravenous sedation administration
- Procedural sedation administration
- Titration of cardiac drips
- Titration of vasoactive drips
- Strong neuro experience including post-brain surgery and EVD/ventriculostomy management
- FloTrac/Vigileo monitoring
- Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Multi-system organ failure
- CABG (Coronary Artery Bypass Graft)
- Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump
- Impella
- Post cardiac surgery, directly from the OR
- Post cardiac surgery, not directly from the OR
- Pre/Post cardiac cath/intervention
- Pulmonary Artery Line/Swan Ganz monitoring
- IV insulin protocols
- CVVHD/CRRT
- CVA/Acute Stroke management
- Assist with management of BiPAP, CPAP
- Care of ventilated patient
- High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC)
- Interpretation of ABGs
- Suctioning (ETT, NT)
- Ventilator management
- Infection prevention
- Isolation precautions / use of PPE
- Surgical wounds with drains / wound vac
Preferred
- Travel experience
- Previous travel experience
Compliance Notes
- Local RN candidates living within 50 miles of Chesapeake Regional Healthcare are not eligible
- Submission must include a completed Qualivis Cover Sheet, current NURSYS report, and all requested time off listed on the Qualivis Cover Sheet
