Cardio Thoracic ICU RN

Overview

• Travel/Contract assignment in Chesapeake, Virginia
• 13 weeks, with possible extension
• Night shift: 4x12 hours, 19:00–7:30
• 48-hour contracts are available
• Typical patient ratio: 1:1–2
• Candidates will also care for step down patients because of the universal bed model

Schedule

• 3x12s or 4x12s
• Every other weekend, floating, and holidays within the contract are required
• Cannot accommodate block scheduling
• Travelers must work two of the three winter holidays

Required Qualifications

• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Valid RN license in Virginia
• CTICU - Cardiothoracic Intensive Care (2 years of experience)
• CTICU - Cardiothoracic Intensive Care experience within the last year
• Experience with Epic
• Strong neuro experience including post-brain surgery and EVD/ventriculostomy management
• BLS issued by American Heart Association
• ACLS issued by American Heart Association
• NIHSS

Preferred Qualifications

• Travel experience preferred
• Previous travel experience preferred

• BLS (American Heart Association only)

• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)

• Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Multi-system organ failure
• CABG (Coronary Artery Bypass Graft)
• Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump
• Impella
• Post Cardiac Surgery, directly from the OR
• Post Cardiac Surgery, not directly from the OR
• Pre/Post Cardiac Cath/intervention
• Pulmonary Artery Line/Swan Ganz monitoring
• IV insulin protocols
• CVVHD/CRRT
• CVA/Acute Stroke management
• Assist with management of BiPAP and CPAP
• Care of Ventilated Patient
• High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC)
• Interpretation of ABGs
• Suctioning (ETT, NT)
• Ventilator Management
• Infection Prevention
• Isolation Precautions / Use of PPE
• Surgical Wounds with drains / Wound Vac

• Local RN candidates living within 50 miles of Chesapeake Regional Healthcare are not eligible for this position
