Assignment Overview

• OR assignment in the Main OR with 14 suites
• Average census: 28 cases per day, including add-on and SDS cases
• 1:1 ratio
• EPIC
• Day/evening shifts with varied start times
• 10-hour shifts, 40 hours per week
• Start ASAP
• 13-week contract

Required Qualifications

• BLS Certification
• BLS (AHA) Verification
• Certified Surgical First Assist (CSFA) via NBSTSA Verification
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) via NBSTSA Verification
• Current surgical tech certification through NBSTSA, NCCT, or AAHA
• One of the following certifications: CSFA through NBSTSA, CSA through NCCSA, or SA-C through ABSA
• CAAHEP accredited Surgical Assistant graduate
• 1 year of experience in the specialty
• 2-3 previous travel assignments
• Experience and proficiency assisting in orthopedics
• Drivers license address must be outside 50 miles from the facility

Preferred Qualifications

• Ortho/Neuro experience

Schedule and Call

• Weekend and weeknight call rotations
• 1 x 12-hour call shift per week, with possibility of additional call if needed
• 1 x 24-hour weekend call shift per month, which can be split into 2 x 12-hour shifts
• Holiday call coverage as needed
• Call response time: 20 minutes

Unit Details

• Common cases include all surgical cases except Open Heart
• Neuro spine, total joints, open fractures, General, and ENT are common
• No vascular at this time, but vascular will be added in August
• RN scrubbing is a plus, not required
• Scrubs are provided
• RN charge nurse coverage is 7a-7p and may circulate cases if needed
• OR techs are present
• Vents are available
• RT is in-house 24/7
• Pharmacy is available 24/7 with Omnicell
• No IV team
• No floating
• Floor-specific orientation: 3 shifts
• Travelers do not self-schedule, but block scheduling may be allowed if it meets unit needs

Additional Notes

• Previous perm candidates must be gone for 2 years
• Previous travelers who were there for 1 full year must be gone for 2 years
• Only 1 submission at a time is allowed across the WVU system
• Up to 2 candidates per opening may be submitted
• Any license hits must be disclosed at time of submission
