ARU RN

Overview

  • Travel/Contract role in Saint Joseph, Missouri
  • Night shift: 3x12, 19:00–07:30
  • 13-week contract
  • Locals accepted at reduced rate within a 50-mile radius
  • First-time travelers accepted with 2 years of experience
  • Non-tele unit

Unit / Patient Population

  • Acute Rehab Unit caring for patients discharged from the medical center who need 1+ week of physical, speech, or occupational therapy
  • Typical patients include post-surgical, post-stroke, CHF, falls, weakness, AMS, elective total joints, hip/femur fractures, back/neck surgery, stroke/TIA, pneumonia, wounds, and COPD
  • Patient ratio: 1:5 on days and 1:5–6 on nights
  • Team-based care with physical therapy and care management involvement
  • Unit is expanding with 18 additional beds

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Missouri
  • Rehabilitation (1 year of experience)
  • Rehabilitation experience within the last year
  • BLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • NIHSS
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing

Preferred Qualifications

  • ACLS

Schedule / Expectations

  • Every 3rd weekend required
  • Holiday block required during the contract
  • Travelers must complete all organizational mandatory education
  • No smoking or leaving the premises during the shift
  • Self-scheduling is used, but incoming travelers may have limited options because the schedule is created 6 weeks in advance

Responsibilities

  • Perform IV insertions and lab draws during shifts
  • May be floated to any like unit within the hospital at any time

Additional Notes

  • Extension opportunities are likely if the traveler is a strong fit and open positions remain
  • Conversion to permanent is possible for the right candidate

Pros

Marigold is polite and professional. She goes above and beyond to ensure the contractor is well informed and has everything needed to be successful. She helped me with onboarding and getting used to the timesheet app and she answers my texts promptly, even after hours. She is a great recruiter liason. Gladys was a super helpful with onboarding and Denise will hook you up with benefits with no trouble at all. Great team to work with.

Cons

Onboarding is somewhat tedious, but they do dot every "i" and cross every T.
