  • Critical Care Float, Coronary Care Nurse, Cardiovascular ICU Nurse, Intensive Care Unit Nurse, Medical Intensive Care Unit Nurse, Surgical ICU Nurse, Surgical Trauma Intensive Care Nurse or Trauma ICU Nurse (2 years)
    Education
  • Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Science in Nursing or Associate of Science in Nursing

Critical Care Float

Overview

  • Travel/contract RN role in Newark, New Jersey
  • Combined ICU and CCU
  • Day shift: 3x12 hours, 7:00–19:30
  • 36 hours per week
  • 13-week contract

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in New Jersey
  • Critical Care Float experience within the last year
  • 1.5 years of Critical Care Float experience
  • ACLS issued by American Heart Association
  • BLS issued by American Heart Association
  • NIHSS
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Arterial line management
  • Start and maintain IVs
  • Phlebotomy
  • Care of ventilated patients
  • Interpretation of ABGs
  • Post-cardiac surgery care (not directly from the OR)
  • Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
  • Experience with Epic

Clinical Skills

  • Arterial line management
  • Start/maintain IVs
  • Phlebotomy
  • Care of ventilated patients
  • Interpretation of ABGs
  • Post cardiac surgery care, not directly from the OR
  • Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias

Scheduling

  • Every other weekend
  • Winter holiday coverage required: work or provide on-call coverage for 1 of 2 or 2 of 3 winter holidays as needed

Floating

  • ICU/CCU
  • CTICU
  • Step Down
  • ED Holding for ICU patients waiting for a bed

Preferred Qualifications

  • Swan-Ganz catheter experience
  • Exposure to IABP, Impella, and VAD
  • CTICU or medical cardiology experience

Additional Notes

  • Navy blue scrubs
  • Ratios: 1:1–3 in critical care; 1:4 if floated to stepdown

Pros

Marigold is polite and professional. She goes above and beyond to ensure the contractor is well informed and has everything needed to be successful. She helped me with onboarding and getting used to the timesheet app and she answers my texts promptly, even after hours. She is a great recruiter liason. Gladys was a super helpful with onboarding and Denise will hook you up with benefits with no trouble at all. Great team to work with.

Cons

Onboarding is somewhat tedious, but they do dot every "i" and cross every T.
