Registered Nurse (RN) – Behavioral Health
Overview
- Temp role in Des Moines, Iowa
- Nights
- 13-week contract
- The assignment is based in a behavioral health unit with acute psychiatric patients, major mental health illness, and chronic behaviors that can include violence, aggression, mania, and self-harm
- Home unit is Adults
- Bed sizes: Geri 12, Adolescent 12, Adult 24
- Ratios can be up to 1:4-6 depending on unit/shift
- Will be required to float across all Des Moines campuses to like units
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Iowa
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Psychiatric (1.25 years of experience)
- Psychiatric experience within the last year
- Experience working with Adolescent patients
- Experience working with Adult patients
- Experience working with Geriatric patients
- Experience with Epic
- Driver's License
- BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
Preferred
- Recent/current inpatient experience
- De-escalation certificate, such as MOAB or CPI; can be obtained during onboarding
- Professional reference/reference check from within the last 24 months
Additional Assignment Details
- First-time travelers are accepted with 12 months of Psych/BH experience
- Must work 1-2 of the 3 upcoming summer holidays unless the unit is closed
- Must work 1-2 of the 3 upcoming winter holidays unless the unit is closed
- Local candidates are not accepted; candidates must live at least 50 miles from the facility based on driver’s license
- Equipment competency includes restraints
- Scrub color: Navy Blue, solids
- NBO: 16 hrs
