Description

We're currently seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher ($42-60/hour - based on experience) to support special needs students near the Chicago. IL area.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Special Education or higher
- Current Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with Endorsements in Special Education (Learning Behavior Specialist I)
- Dates: ASAP- approximately May 28, 2027
- Hours to be discussed during interview (approximately 37.5hrs/week)
- Setting: Special Education; One building
- Teach 3 inclusion classes and 2 resource classes
- Caseload is approximately 10-15 students
- There is a Case Manager on staff who oversees compliance and provides departmental support; however, the teacher is responsible for managing their own caseload, including writing IEPs, completing required documentation, progress monitoring, and attending IEP meetings.
As a Special Education Teacher, you will support students with diverse learning needs by creating inclusive and personalized educational plans that help them thrive both academically and emotionally. This role offers the opportunity to work with young learners in a supportive school environment while making a lasting impact on their development.
Key Responsibilities:?
- Accommodate, modify and adapt lessons and curriculum as needed to meet individual student needs and IEP Goals
- Support in the facilitation of IEP meetings as well as development of the IEP
- Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the developmental levels and interests of their students
- Set and communicate clear expectations for classroom behavior and school environment by applying positive reinforcement and/or behavior modification techniques as needed. Assist in the development and implementation of student behavior intervention plans
