Opportunity:

RN - Neurology; Additional Notes from VMS= Neuro Surgical - Nights - Deaconess Gateway

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour night shifts from 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM
• 36 guaranteed hours per week (will accept 48-hour contracts upon request)
• 13-week contract length with bi-weekly orientation
• Three weekends required out of every six-week schedule
• Every other holiday rotation required
• No blocked schedule requests accepted
• First to float within skillset to Deaconess Midtown (8 miles) and potentially Deaconess Henderson KY (11 miles)
• 2-hour notice given for cross-campus float; mid-shift float within same campus possible
• Patient ratio: 1:5-7 on nights
• Care for neuro and neuro-surgical patients including CVAs, elective back/neck surgeries, post-op craniotomies, cerebral angiograms, general medical and psych patients
• Required skills: NIHSS/dysphagia screening, strong neuro assessments, basic telemetry interpretation, strict I&Os, straight catheterization, Foley insertion, initiate/titrate heparin drips, blood/blood product administration, venipuncture, blood cultures, NG tubes, indwelling drain management, stable drips
• Minimum 2 years strong neuro experience, 1 travel assignment, trauma level II experience required
• Recent EPIC charting experience required with mandatory checkoff class
• Required certifications: Current active compact license, AHA BLS, NIHSS
• Associate degree or certificate required
• Navy blue scrubs required with no competing health system or agency logos
• May require precepting of students and new hires as this is a teaching hospital
• Strong assessment and critical thinking skills essential
• 3 call-ins can result in termination
