Opportunity:

RN - Med Surg Cardiac

Job Details:

• Work on a 10-bed Med/Surg Cardiac unit caring for high acuity patients
• Patient ratios: Days 1:4-5, Nights 1:5
• Manage cardiac step down patients, post procedure cardiac patients, telemetry monitoring, secondary stroke patients, CHF, and ESRD patients
• Required to read and interpret cardiac rhythm strips independently
• Administer cardiac drips including Amiodarone and Cardizem
• Monitor sheath sites and provide pre/post cardiac catheterization care (femoral/radial)
• Manage chest tubes, non-titrating nitroglycerin, and non-titrating dobutamine
• Provide post-pacemaker care
• Weekend rotation every 3rd weekend
• Holiday expectations: 1 summer and 1 winter holiday
• Low census calls in 4-hour increments (mainly nights)
• Float to other medical/surgical areas as needed
• 1-2 shift orientation to learn unit flow
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
• EPIC charting system experience required
• Work with Alaris pumps and Pyxis medication dispensing
• Professional scrubs of any color required
• Shared responsibility with phlebotomy for blood draws

This healthcare facility is a 101-licensed bed hospital serving as a Level IV Trauma Center and Primary Stroke Center. The facility provides comprehensive medical services with 24/7 support including respiratory therapy, hospitalist services, and various rehabilitation services. The medical/surgical cardiac unit features modern equipment and technology to support high-acuity cardiac patients, with dedicated support staff including charge nurses who take patient assignments and specialized teams for IV therapy during select shifts.
