Opportunity:

RN - MedSurg

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour shifts: 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM or 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Patient ratios: 1:4 during day shifts, 1:5-6 during night shifts
• Weekend rotation every 3rd weekend
• Holiday expectations: 1 summer and 1 winter holiday required
• No on-call responsibilities
• Schedule created in 6-week increments, received 2 weeks prior to schedule beginning
• Request time off up to 7 days may be approved
• Block scheduling may be accommodated but not guaranteed
• Minimum 1 year of MedSurg experience required
• First-time travelers accepted
• BLS certification required
• EPIC EMR experience required
• Required skills include general MedSurg competencies, foley insertion/care, peripheral IV placement/maintenance, bladder scans, NG tube placement/maintenance, chest tubes, trachs, wound care/dressing changes, central line/PICC/midline management, accessing ports
• Administer drips including heparin and insulin (insulin experience preferred but not required)
• Care for patients with CHF, COPD, respiratory issues/failure, pneumonia, cellulitis, infections, DVT, acute and chronic kidney disease, wounds, altered mental status, suicide precautions
• Provide care for general surgery patients including gallbladders, appendectomies, colectomies, ostomies, TURPs
• Perform cardiac rhythm interpretation and check off on strips
• May float within scope of practice to observation unit and MedSurg 1
• Travelers float first when floating is required
• One shift unit orientation to learn workflow plus possible orientation to float units
• Dress code requires solid color scrubs with no graphics, logos, or designs

Facility:

This healthcare facility is a comprehensive medical center featuring 167 beds and serving as a Level II Trauma Center. The facility offers specialized services including a Level III NICU, Level III Maternity unit, and Primary Stroke Center capabilities. The MedSurg unit contains 16 beds with an average daily census of 16 patients. The facility utilizes modern technology including EPIC EMR system, Alaris IV pumps, and Pyxis medication dispensing. Support services include 24/7 hospitalist coverage, respiratory therapy, SWAT RN coverage, IV/vascular access team during day hours, centralized telemetry monitoring, CNA support, and phlebotomy services for peripheral lab draws.
