Opportunity:

RN - MedSurg

Job Details:

• Float Pool position requiring travel to multiple units including MS1 General Medical Surgical, MS2 Ortho/Neuro, MS2 Cardiac, and ER Holding/Boarding
• Shift times: 6:45 AM to 7:15 PM (days) and 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM (nights)
• Weekend rotation every other weekend
• Schedule is made 4-6 weeks in advance with 2 weeks notice provided
• Block scheduling considered upon request but not guaranteed
• No on-call requirements
• May work up to 50% of holidays during contract
• Patient ratios: 1:4-6 on days and 1:6 on nights
• Minimum 2 years of MedSurg experience required
• First-time travelers are accepted
• Care for a variety of patient types including oncology, surgical, general medical, ortho, neuro, and cardiac patients
• Surgical patients include gallbladder, appendectomies, colectomies, ostomies, and TURPs
• General medical patients include cellulitis, GI bleeds, CHF, COPD, and outpatient infusions
• Ortho/Neuro patients include total hips, total knees, shoulders, spine surgeries, strokes, and altered mental status
• Cardiac patients include post-procedure cath, TEE, cardioversion, heart failure, chest pain, and cardiac arrhythmias
• Required skills include chest tubes, stable trach management, IV skills, port/central line management, foley insertion/care, feeding tubes, and cardiac rhythm interpretation
• Must be knowledgeable on CPAP/BiPAP/Airvo (RT will manage equipment)
• Titrating drips including Cardizem, amiodarone, insulin, and argatroban required; manager approval needed if no drip experience
• EPIC EMR experience required
• Equipment includes Alaris IV pumps and Pyxis medication dispensing
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
• Scrub color: Any solid color, professional - no graphics, logos, or designs

This medical center is a 101-licensed-bed facility operating as a Level IV Trauma Center and Primary Stroke Center. The facility supports a traveler-friendly culture with a strong teamwork atmosphere and offers comprehensive support services including 24/7 hospitalist and respiratory therapy coverage, HUC support on days, CNA assistance, phlebotomy services, and OT/PT/ST services on weekdays. The facility utilizes remote telemonitoring with tele tech support and maintains a well-structured team environment to ensure quality patient care across all units.
