Opportunity:

RN - Med Surg/Tele

Job Details:

• 12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM to 7:00 AM)
• Weekend rotation required every other weekend, including Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
• Holiday requirement of 2 out of 3 holidays
• Potential to be placed on call or standby
• Must be able to float to like units and patients
• 24-bed inpatient unit with capacity for up to 10 observation/day surgery patients
• Nurse-to-patient ratios: 5:1 on day shift, 6:1 at 11:00 PM; team nursing with LPNs at 2:7 ratios
• Common diagnoses include NHP, cellulitis, UTI, COPD, GU, pacemaker, sepsis, nursing home placements, and day surgical cases including orthopedic (hips and knees), cholecystectomies, appendectomies, and TURPS-CBI
• Minimum 1 year of Med Surg or Med Surg Tele experience (acute care) required
• Preferred experience with TURPS-CBI and Critical Access or Trauma Level 3 or 4 settings
• Must be comfortable with IV starts as there is no IV team on site
• Basic tele arrhythmia knowledge required; monitors are physical units located at the nurses' desk
• Travelers may be placed as relief charge nurse
• Nurse aids available on unit
• Hospitalist available on site until 6:00 PM daily, then telemed is utilized
• Respiratory therapy available 24/7; equipment includes CPAP
• Drip titration is not required
• Scrub color: solid professional colors, no specific color required
• Orientation includes computer education on day 1 (8 hours with 4 hours of shadowing), a 12-hour orientation shift on day 2, and independent work beginning on day 3
• Required certification: BLS (AHA)
• Preferred certification: ACLS
• Must clock in and out at the facility
• Candidates living within 80 miles of the facility will be considered local

This acute care facility is a Trauma Level 4 hospital providing inpatient medical and surgical services to the surrounding community. The facility operates a Med Surg/Telemetry unit with a collaborative team nursing model and offers access to respiratory therapy, hospitalist support, and telemed services. The organization emphasizes self-scheduling flexibility when possible and supports a team-oriented environment with nurse aids and LPN support on the unit.
