Opportunity:
RN - Med Surg/Tele
Job Details:
• 12-hour rotating day and night shifts (7:00 AM to 7:00 PM and 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM)
• Weekend rotation required every other weekend, including Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
• Holiday requirement of 2 out of 3 holidays
• Opportunity and potential to be placed on call or standby
• Must be able to float to like units and patients
• Nurse-to-patient ratios: 5:1 for day shift, 6:1 at 11:00 PM; team nursing with LPNs at 2:7 ratios
• 24-bed inpatient unit with up to 10 observation and day surgery patients
• Common diagnoses include NHP, cellulitis, UTI, COPD, GU, pacemaker, sepsis, nursing home placements, and day surgical cases including ortho (hips and knees), cholecystectomies, appendectomies, and TURPS-CBI
• Must be comfortable with IV starts as there is no IV team on site
• Basic telemetry arrhythmia knowledge required; telemetry monitoring reviewed in ICU daily with physical monitor at nurses' station
• Respiratory therapy available 24/7 with CPAP equipment on unit
• Hospitalist in house until 6:00 PM daily, then telemed coverage
• Travelers may be placed as relief charge nurse
• Nurse aides available on unit
• No titration of drips required
• Scheduling attempts to accommodate self-scheduling with longer blocks of 6 shifts when possible; blocking cannot be guaranteed
• Scrub color: solid professional, no specific color required
• Orientation includes an 8-hour computer education day followed by 4 hours of shadowing on day 1, a 12-hour orientation shift on day 2, and independent work beginning on day 3
• Must clock in and out at the facility
• 1 year of Med Surg or Med Surg Telemetry experience in an acute care setting required
• Experience with TURPS-CBI preferred
• Critical Access or Trauma Level 3 or 4 experience preferred
• Required certifications: BLS (AHA); ACLS preferred
• Michigan nursing license required

This acute care facility is a Trauma Level 4 critical access hospital serving the surrounding community with a dedicated Med Surg/Telemetry unit. The facility operates with a collaborative team nursing model and offers a range of inpatient and day surgical services. With limited on-site specialty resources, clinicians are expected to work with a high degree of independence and adaptability, making it an excellent opportunity for experienced nurses seeking a dynamic and varied clinical environment.
