Opportunity:

RN - ICU

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM or 1900 to 0730
• Every other weekend required, with additional weekends welcomed if available
• Every other holiday required, with additional holidays welcomed if available
• Nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:2, with 1:1 for higher acuity patients such as CRRT, immediate post-op hearts, and MTP, and 1:3 for med-surg/floor status patients
• Care for cardiovascular surgery patients (CABG, AVR, MVR, AAA), traumas, NSTEMI/STEMI, vascular surgery, neurosurgery, general surgery, orthopedic surgery, ENT surgery, and other surgical ICU patients
• Required to titrate drips including epinephrine, norepinephrine, propofol, precedex, vasopressin, dobutamine, heparin, insulin, dopamine, neo, and milrinone
• Monitor and document patient telemetry strips using GE monitors independently without telemetry technicians
• Operate respiratory therapy equipment including ventilators, BiPAP, and Vapotherm
• Experience with CRRT, IABP, Impella, and ECMO not required but strongly preferred
• Charge nurse available every shift; nursing house supervisor available 24/7; intensivist in house 24/7; respiratory therapy in ICU 24/7
• Float to MICU if not needed in SICU; may serve as patient observer within hospital if not needed in either ICU
• No specific scrub color required; clean and professional appearance expected
• Charting system: Cerner
• Must complete one day of system onboarding and CBT, followed by two orientation shifts on the unit, along with a skills checklist
• Required certifications: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), NIHSS
• Preferred certification: TNCC
• 2 years of RN experience required
• BSN not required

Facility:

This facility is a tertiary care center serving as a Level 2 trauma center for its regional health system. The surgical ICU features 16 beds plus 2 additional procedural beds, providing high-acuity critical care services across a wide range of specialties including cardiovascular surgery, neurosurgery, vascular surgery, and trauma. The unit operates with around-the-clock intensivist coverage, respiratory therapy support, and dedicated charge nursing on every shift to ensure exceptional patient care standards.
